This website will enable a CRS Ambassador chapter or a social justice class or group to create a simulation to educate participants about global hunger. In a 20-30-minute interaction, participants experience:
- Some of the complex causes of global hunger;
- Some of the early steps farming communities are taking to lift themselves out of hunger;
- Some of the long-term steps these communities are taking;
- Options for reflection, through the lens of Catholic Social Teaching;
- An opportunity to engage in advocacy.
We fully realize it is impossible for us to comprehend the reality these people face. However, we feel the need to engage participants in what subsistence farmers in the Global South must undergo. And so we created a simulation to give a small sense of their reality.
The headings (Learn, Plan, Reflect, Advocate, Floor Plan, Home) will give essential background on the issue, instructions on how to set up the simulation, and resources for reflection, prayer, and advocacy.
Now watch the video of the simulation and then go to the LEARN page.
